Apple Lemonade Smoothie Recipe

The idea for this smoothie came from juicing apples and lemons to make sugarless lemonade. If you’re into juicing you should give this a try for a truly tasty and refreshing beverage. The homemade lemonade was such a big hit that I decided to convert it into a smoothie recipe.

Lemons offer a wide array of health benefits, including being great for detoxification, an important aspect of overall health. Here’s a run down of health benefits attributed to lemons.

Detox: Lemons are a great liver cleanser, and the citric acid found in lemons helps break down unwanted kidney stones. A common morning drink for cleaning out your system is a warm glass of lemon juice and water.

Digestion: Aids digestion and alleviates constipation. Lemon juice and lukewarm water can be consumed after a meal to stimulate the production of stomach acid to aid digestion.

Vitamin C: Lemons contain a high amount of this important vitamin that boosts the immune system and helps in calcium metabolism, which can help with arthritis.

Vitamins & Minerals: Besides being a great source of vitamin C, lemons are also high in citric acid, calcium, magnesium, bioflavonoids, pectin, and limonene. Lemons contain more potassium than apples or grapes.

Anti-Cancer: Lemons high antioxidant properties lend a hand in fighting many cancers, especially mouth, stomach, and colon cancer.

You can go a couple different ways with this smoothie. For more of a lemonade drink, leave out the banana. Or use some ice in place of water for more of a slushie consistency. Play with it and find out what you like best. Enjoy!

Apple Lemonade Smoothie Recipe

The Ingredients

  • 1 cup water (or 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup ice)
  • 1 lemon, peeled and seeded
  • 1 apple, cored, peeled and sliced
  • 1 fresh or frozen medium banana
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • A little honey, stevia, or maple syrup to sweeten (optional)

The Add-ons

  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger spice or 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • 1 cup baby spinach if you’d like a green smoothie
  • 1 serving of your favorite green superfood powder and/or protein powder

Show Time

Add the ingredients into your high-speed blender and blend for around 30-45 seconds or until nice and smooth.
