Aloe Vera Lemonade Smoothie

Aloe Vera Lemonade SmoothieI recently purchased aloe vera gel to use in a couple body butter recipes, but made sure to save a little for smoothies :)

In the past I’ve procured fresh aloe leaves, filleted, and scraped out the gel for use in smoothies. As it turns out this aloe vera gel is much easier to work with.

Blueberry Mango Raw Milk Smoothie

Blueberry Mango Raw Milk SmoothieWhat would I do without my raw milk, or as like to call it, white gold. Raw milk and the kefir I make with it are staples in my diet.

Real raw milk from grass-fed cows is a complete food that you could live on exclusively if you had to. It contains proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, cholesterol, and beneficial bacteria.

Cantaloupe Kefir Smoothie

Alas, my first smoothie featuring the delightful cantaloupe is here :)

I picked up a nice ripe cantaloupe from my co-op yesterday specifically to make this smoothie recipe, which was gifted to me by a faithful reader. Thanks, Mari!

For whatever reason I haven’t been consuming much melon lately, but that’s going to change. The cantaloupe and this smoothie were ridiculously delicious.

Cantaloupe is rich in vitamins A and C and is a good source of potassium and beta-carotene. This nutrient profile offers powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory support to your body.

Peach Blueberry Smoothie

Peach Blueberry SmoothieTickle your taste buds with this delicious fruit smoothie!

I was able to procure peaches for the first time this season at the farmer’s market today. I’ve been eagerly awaiting their arrival because I love peaches and have been waiting to make this smoothie recipe.

This recipe was inspired by a comment on my Pretty Peachy Smoothie by Mary (thanks!) who informed me that peaches love ginger. She’s absolutely right and I can confirm it myself. I’ll definitely be making this again.

Blueberry Gelatin Protein Smoothie

Blueberry Gelatin Protein SmoothieThis smoothie features one of my new favorite ingredients, gelatin.

Gelatin is basically pure protein, and thus a great source of this macronutrient. I’ve had success with a couple high quality protein powders over the years. Problem is, they’re a little pricey and not a whole food, and I strive to get the majority of my nutrients from whole foods.

What is gelatin and what’s so special about it?
