Blueberry Chocolate Dream Smoothie

Blueberry-Chocolate-Dream-SmoothieIndulge in this delicious, nutritious, filling, and dare I say amazing treat of a smoothie!

All the credit for this fabulous recipe goes to Ana, a fellow smoothie enthusiast, and chocolate lover. While exchanging emails about smoothies, chocolate, and good food she was kind enough to share this recipe with me, and now the smoothie world. She even supplied the beautiful image to the right. Thanks, Ana!

This dreamy smoothie is similar to the one’s I make for breakfast. It’s loaded with nutrition and macronutrients to keep you full of energy and satiated until lunch. There’s plenty of healthy fat, ample protein, and it’s low in sugar – a winning combo in my book.

Creamy Coconut Cashew Elixir

Creamy Coconut Cashew ElixirI’m back with another tickle your taste buds elixir. This one is extra frothy and delicious thanks to the cashews.

Cashews are a great smoothie and elixir ingredient that I often forget about. While soaking the cashews I picked up from my local co-op I remembered how well they blend in elixirs. They lend to that signature elixir frothiness while providing a good source of calories. If you’re consuming an elixir for breakfast it’s important to get enough calories to sustain yourself until lunch.

Bulletproof Elixir

Bulletproof ElixirThe bulletproof executive provided the inspiration for this recipe. While I don’t regularly drink coffee, I love his bulletproof coffee recipe, usually substituting my favorite tea.

On the mornings I don’t feel like a smoothie, which is often the case in the winter, I heat up some tea and make an elixir. Think of an elixir as a mocha or latte, creamy and rich, with enough calories to keep you going until lunch.

I don’t have anything against coffee and have read several studies expounding its health benefits, it’s just not my thing. I prefer herb/medicinal teas or if I need a pick-me-up, something milder such as green tea, Yerba Mate, or Guayusa.

Blueberry Mango Raw Milk Smoothie

Blueberry Mango Raw Milk SmoothieWhat would I do without my raw milk, or as like to call it, white gold. Raw milk and the kefir I make with it are staples in my diet.

Real raw milk from grass-fed cows is a complete food that you could live on exclusively if you had to. It contains proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, cholesterol, and beneficial bacteria.

Some of the amazing health benefits of raw milk include boosting the immune system, strengthening teeth and bones, and helping children grow up to be strong and healthy. It’s been shown to alleviate asthma and allergies, and help resolve digestive issues, arthritis, and osteoporosis among other things.

Peanut Butter Kefir Smoothie

Peanut-Butter-Kefir-SmoothieWhat a delightful treat this was for breakfast this morning. Rich, creamy, and full of flavor and good nutrition.

Peanut butter has a special place in my heart. Without it I never would have made it through college. Peanut butter sandwiches were the foundation of my diet. If only I knew then what I know now :)

Thankfully, peanut butter is a healthy food with some nice health benefits such as: Continue Reading →
